As the "world's most expensive player" Gareth Bale settles in with his new club Real Madrid, egos begin to flare between the youngster and his teammate and former "world's most expensive player" Cristiano Ronaldo. It may have all been smiles when the two super stars of Madrid first met in the stadium parking lot last Wednesday, but during training yesterday all cards were on the table when C. Ronaldo was caught purposely clashing into the winger Bale. Reports also showed that neither of the two acknowledged each other for the duration of the training session. Madrid fans will hope to see the two titans get over themselves and perform on the same page for the remainder of the season.
We all could of predicted that egos would emerge between these two talented and more importantly younger players. One would think C. Ronaldo, with his 17 years of professional experience, would be more welcoming to the new member, but all is war when it comes between C. Ronaldo and his public image. The media have made it clear that there is a new king in Madrid (Bale), and he came with a hefty price tag. The reports are not certain, but both English and Spanish press have reported that Bale cost Real Madrid an estimated €100 million, compared to C. Ronaldo's €80 million.
Tomorrow's match against La Liga's Elche, should provide Cristiano Ronaldo with another 90 minutes of headline-making news, seeing as Bale has not recovered from an injury during last weeks training.
